  • James Bullington promoted to senior leadership role at LSINC

James Bullington promoted to senior leadership role at LSINC Huntsville, AL, November 21, 2013 — LSINC is proud to announce that James Bullington is now Vice President of Engineering, Prototyping, and LVAP (Low-Volume Production). Headquartered in Huntsville, Alabama, LSINC provides business and communications strategies and product development services to federal and commercial clients across the U.S. and abroad. Bullington, who served as LSINC’s director of engineering for the past eight years, has led the firm’s overall product development efforts as well as providing expert mechanical engineering expertise for projects ranging from new product design to full-scale training simulators. In his expanded role as vice president, Bullington will be responsible for LSINC’s comprehensive product development and engineering services which include rapid prototyping and LVAP. LSINC’s rapid prototype facility produces economical 3D printed and cast resin prototypes and its LVAP line produces low volumes of initial production inventory to bridge the gap between engineering models and long-term contract manufacturing. Bullington is a professional engineer (PE) with the State of Alabama and holds both a bachelor and a master of science degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Alabama in Huntsville. His background includes extensive work in thermal and structural analysis, molded design, conceptualization of new products, electronics integration, manufacturing enablement, minimizing production costs, and mechanical engineering. Fortune 500 companies including Hewlett Packard, Anheuser Busch, Northrop Grumman, SAIC, and Lockheed-Martin as well as multiple federal agencies and Department of Defense contractors have solicited the expertise of Bullington and his team. Under his leadership, LSINC has designed, developed, and supported the launch of multiple products to market including the iCubate disease diagnostic system and the Hear Technologies Hearback Jack personal music monitor. The team’s full-scale engineering projects include the design and fabrication of a Bell 412 helicopter simulator, a Crew Excursion Vehicle (CEV) mockup, and training replicas of two Lightweight Counter Mortar Radar systems. “This was a natural progression for James’ career,” said Alicia Ryan, CEO of LSINC. “He has more than demonstrated his capabilities to lead and serve every customer with the utmost attention,” said Ms. Ryan. “We are proud to recognize his accomplishments with this promotion and will fully support James as he leads this business unit to new heights in 2014 and beyond.” Prior to joining LSINC (then Inergi) in 2005, Bullington held senior engineering roles for Intergraph and Silicon Graphics and owned Bullington Engineering, a privately held engineering firm. Bullington and his wife Sandra have two children and reside in Athens. About LSINC LSINC, a woman-owned small business (WOSB), provides strategy and intelligence, strategic communications, product development, and low-volume adaptable production to federal and commercial clients. • LSINC Acquires Inergi

LSINC, LLC aquires the assets of Inergi, Inc. HUNTSVILLE, AL, June 5, 2012 — On June 5, 2012, LSINC, LLC acquired the assets of Inergi, Inc. and began offering turn-key, lifecycle product development including product engineering, rapid prototyping, technical documentation, scale models, mock-ups, and full-sized simulators. The official announcement was made June 6, 2012 by LSINC CEO Alicia Ryan. AL.com news article can be found at: http://blog.al.com/huntsville-times-business/2012/06/lsinc_acquisition_of_inergi_de.html LSINC acquisition of Inergi described as ‘perfect fit’ of Huntsville companies By Budd McLaughlin, The Huntsville Times HUNTSVILLE, Alabama — In what could be likened to a local business version of getting someone’s chocolate in your peanut butter, a pair of Huntsville-based companies have combined their services with a collective eye on success. LSINC, a woman-owned, small business that provides leadership strategy consulting services, has acquired Inergi, a provider of product development, engineering services and strategic communications. The two have a natural synergy in what they offer to help clients not only realize their potential but take their products from concept to market, according to CEO Alicia Ryan. The move is a “perfect fit,” Ryan said. “LSINC can perform the early analysis needed to identify a product’s market potential, evaluate the competitive landscape and recommend internal corporate changes needed to capitalize on the opportunity. “Inergi’s development team can take a product from idea to reality through outstanding industrial design, engineering, prototyping and product strategy expertise.” In an unusual twist, last year Austin Boyd, then-CEO of Inergi, hired Ryan for an analysis of his company’s business lines. Now, she’s his boss. Boyd is LSINC’s senior vice president for business growth. The irony did not escape Davis Lee, a partner in LSINC and owner of Inergi. “I bought Alicia’s company,” said Lee. “Three months ago, she bought my company (Inergi).” Lee said the combination of the two companies would be a success, positioned to better serve leaders of all types. “The LSINC folks have been successful,” he said. “The Inergi folks are running hard. “I’m excited about the opportunities for these two teams to come together.” Boyd credited Lee with being the “catalyst” for the company and also is confident about the partnership. “Both LSINC and Inergi have incredible, collaborative teams,” he said. “Inergi’s clients will continue to receive the same outstanding services … while having access to LSINC’s array of strategic consulting capabilities.” Mayor Tommy Battle, on hand at the announcement, said he, too, expects good things from the new company. “It’s exciting when you see two dynamic business leaders (Ryan and Lee) coming together,” he said. “It’s very exciting for the city of Huntsville and the whole North Alabama area.” The company will combine LSINC’s 13 employees with Inergi’s staff of 33 at the former Inergi headquarters in the old Martin Industries plant on Governors Drive. Ryan recognized the Inergi employees who are now in the LSINC fold. “If it wasn’t for you,” she said at Wednesday’s announcement, “we wouldn’t be here today.” And Lee apparently isn’t slowing down with this most recent acquisition. “We’re not going to stop in Huntsville,” he said. “This was a little guy buying a big guy. “We’re going to find a big guy. With he (Boyd) and Alicia combined, watch out. Here we come.”

  • Alicia Ryan: From working in the living room to working with NASA and other large corporations

By Mike Marshall, The Huntsville Times “This is where Mommy works,” she recalls him saying. At the time, she was working in the living room of her home off County Line Road in Madison. She was operating her new company, Leadership Strategies Inc. (LSINC), which provides leadership strategy consulting to senior leaders in government and commercial businesses. In the dining room were Ryan’s four employees, all women whom she barely knew at the time. “And this is where Mommy’s friends work,” she recalls Jason saying. From those beginnings in April 2008 came a company that does business with many of the area’s foremost government and commercial entities, including NASA and SMDC. Leadership Strategies Inc., now located at 4825 University Square in Huntsville, has a national and international presence, doing business with companies in Germany, Florida, Texas, Virginia and Seattle, among other places. Working with senior leaders, the company’s goal is to provide the “space to think, ability to think strategically and market intelligence to function strategically.” “I thought I’d stay an independent consultant,” Ryan said. “It just so happened we did this. The thing about it, there are companies that provide management consulting. “We do it at the senior level.” Before moving to Huntsville, Ryan led the Strategic Business Intelligence Group at Booz Allen Hamilton in the Washington, D.C. area. Looking for a better place to raise their family, she and her husband moved here in 2004. Sensing a shortage in companies here that work with senior leaders, she opened her company in mid-April 2008. “We started with no money,” she said. “(There were) no investments, and we’ve never gone in debt.” Much of her success has been through word-of-mouth recommendations, in her view. “I have a belief that you can’t sell strategy,” she said. ‘You’re either ready to be strategic or you’re not.” LSINC works with 10 companies at a time. All are “middle- to larger-size companies,” Ryan said. “We don’t try to tell (senior leaders) we know more,” Ryan said. “We’re listening. We’re taking their insights and pulling it all together. “I have a firm belief that senior leaders know 90 percent of the time where they want to go. It goes back to having the space to think. They’re the experts, and we’re supporting.”

The list represents a unique look at the most successful companies within the American economy’s most dynamic segment—its independent small businesses. Microsoft, Dell, Domino’s Pizza, Pandora, Timberland, LinkedIn, Yelp, Zillow, and many other well-known names gained their first national exposure as honorees on the Inc. 5000. “Inc. has been a favored business publication of ours and to be recognized among America’s fastest-growing companies is an honor,” said Alicia Ryan, Chief Executive Officer of LSINC. “To have this happen at the same time we bought our first building and are moving just adds to our reasons to celebrate. What doesn’t change is the way entrepreneurs create and accelerate the forces that shape our lives.” The annual Inc. 5000 event honoring the companies on the list will be held October 17 to 19, 2018, at the JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort, in San Antonio, Texas.
