- LSINC Corporation Names Laken Laird Director of Operations
HUNTSVILLE, AL, October 29, 2018 – LSINC Corporation announced today that it has named Laken Laird as the company’s Director of Operations. In her new role supporting the Chief Operations Officer, she will monitor day-to-day operational systems and processes; plan, monitor, and analyze key metrics to ensure efficient and timely completion of tasks; lead the team with integrity to maintain a trusting, inclusive and productive environment; and collaborate with executive leadership on budget and planning, as well as developing long term operational strategies. Laird has served as a Strategic Business Analyst for LSINC over the past three and a half years. “Laken is a brilliant business analyst who has been instrumental in building LSINC over the last three years,” said Alicia Ryan, CEO. Prior to joining LSINC in 2015, Laird was Deputy Director of Research and Publications for Intergroup Services (IGS), a healthcare consulting firm based in Baltimore, MD. Her background also includes time working in legislative affairs in Washington, D.C. She has extensive knowledge in policy development and operational process management for the defense, health, and international business sectors. Laird is a native of Opp, AL. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from The University of Alabama and her Master of Arts in Diplomacy and International Relations from Seton Hall University.
- LSINC Corporation Awarded MDA TEAMS Human Resources Contract
HUNTSVILLE, Ala., Nov. 20, 2018 /PRNewswire/ — Following a competitive solicitation, the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) has awarded Huntsville-based Woman-Owned Small Business (WOSB) LSINC Corporation its Technical, Engineering, Advisory, and Management Support (TEAMS) Human Resources (HR) contract. Work under this contract will support MDA with HR activities in the areas of execution of human resources operations; human capital data; military personnel planning and support; recruitment and staffing; training and curriculum development; science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) outreach; equal opportunity; and total force management. The cost-plus fixed-fee TEAMS HR contract has a five-year period of performance including options, at a value of $38.9M. LSINC will provide personnel support for this contract in Huntsville, AL; Fort Belvoir, VA; and Colorado Springs, CO. - Astronaut Dr. Ellen Ochoa Inspires LSINC Employees to Pioneer Innovation
LSINC Corporation Employee Engagement Series Features Veteran Astronaut and Former Johnson Space Center Director. To enhance LSINC Corporation’s mission to provide customers with innovative solutions derived through collaboration and multiple perspectives, LSINC created an employee engagement series to bring together bright, innovative minds to share their stories with LSINC employees. Most recently, LSINC Corporation invited Dr. Ellen Ochoa, a 4-time shuttle astronaut and 2017 inductee into the Astronaut Hall of Fame, to share her experiences working at NASA and lessons learned about successfully leading a set complex and diverse projects. Dr. Ochoa served as the 11th director of Johnson SpaceCenter with the distinction of being its second female director and first Hispanic director. Her impressive career also includes previous management roles as Deputy Center Director and Director of Flight Crew Operations. Born in California, Ochoa earned a bachelor’s degree in physics from San Diego State University and a master’s degree and doctorate in electrical engineering from Stanford University. Ochoa joined NASA in 1988 as a research engineer at Ames Research Center and moved to Johnson Space Center in 1990, when she was selected as an astronaut. She became the first Hispanic woman to go to space, serving on the nine-day STS-56 mission aboard the space shuttle Discovery in 1993. She has flown in space a total of four times, including STS-66, STS-96and STS-110, logging nearly 1,000 hours in orbit. As a research engineer at Sandia National Laboratories and NASA Ames Research Center, Ochoa investigated optical systems for performing information processing. She is a co-inventor on three patents and author of several technical papers. Ochoa has been recognized by NASA and earned its highest award, the Distinguished Service Medal, and the Presidential Distinguished Rank Award for senior executives in the federal government. Along with numerous other awards, she is especially honored to have six schools named for her. She is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) and the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics(AIAA), serves on several boards, and chairs the Nomination EvaluationCommittee for the National Medal of Technology and Innovation. LSINC President Robert Lightfoot shares his thoughts on Dr. Ochoa’s participation in the LSINC employee engagement series, saying, “Ellen proves the sky is not the limit. In February, at the 83rd Annual Membership Meeting, LSINC CEO Alicia Ryan was presented the Huntsville/Madison County Chamber of Commerce’s Distinguished Service Award by outgoing Board Chair Gary Bolton. The Distinguished ServiceAward is the highest honor the Chamber presents to an individual. It has been awarded since 1957, with the first recipient being Dr. Wernher von Braun. “The LSINC team is proud of Alicia and her community service. Alicia always emphasizes being a good steward in our community as a key LSINC company tenet. She sets the example for all of us when it comes to community service,” said Robert M. Lightfoot, Jr., LSINC’s President. Alicia Ryan is the founder and CEO of LSINC, a diversified company providing engineering design, product development and manufacturing and assembly of complex industrial systems for commercial and defense and aerospace companies. Among her many volunteer and leadership positions, Alicia serves as the Vice Chair of the Board of Directors for the Alabama School for Cyber Technology and Engineering, a statewide magnet school created by the Alabama Legislature in 2018.
